K/1 Clinic

This is an in-house, co-ed program for children in Kindergarten and 1st grade.  Kids are introduced to the game of basketball in clinic style, and small sided games are played once per week without a scoreboard or clock.

2nd/3rd Grade Co-ed In-House

Building upon the K/1 clinic, this in-house program continues to teach basketball fundamentals in a more advanced setting, but still without scoreboard or clock.  Games are played either 4v4 or 5v5 and rules are enforced through corrective instruction.

MYBA 3rd/4th through 11th/12th Recreational Travel

MVAA is a member of the Monocacy Youth Basketball Association (MYBA) which is a recreational basketball league comprised of over 25 organizations throughout Frederick and Carroll Counties.  MYBA has a “must play” rule, and coaches are highly encouraged to play everyone equally (although equal play time is not enforced).   Competition within MYBA can vary widely, from very inexperienced to very competitive.  Teams are seeded "A" through "C" to try to match like-skilled teams.  Teams practice once or twice per week, coach and gym space dependent.  MYBA has a 10 game regular season with an all-in, single-elimination tournament at the end of the season.  MVAA teams are formed in the following age groups (registration dependent) for both boys and girls separately – 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, 7th/8th, 9th/10th and 11th/12th

Mid Maryland Basketball

MVAA is a member of the Mid-Maryland Basketball league, which provides the highest level of basketball competition in Frederick County for both boys and girls in 7th and 8th grades.  Mid Maryland Junior Varsity (JV) is comprised of the best 7th grade and under players, and Mid Maryland Varsity is comprised of the best 8th grade and under players.  Playing time for Mid Maryland is earned; there is no must-play rule.  This is intended to be for the best 7th and 8th grade basketball players in MVAA and requires a higher level of commitment than our other programs.  There are more games and typically more practice time for the Mid Maryland teams.  Teams are created through tryouts and players must attend tryouts to be considered for Mid Maryland teams.
